Calvary Chapel Big Bear Christian School, as a ministry of Calvary Chapel Big Bear, exists for the purpose of assisting parents in their responsibility of biblically training each child “in the way he should go.” Home education is a means to an end — preparing young people to serve Christ and His kingdom. CCBBCS students are encouraged and expected to be disciplined and Christ‑honoring in word and deed.

Our vision at CCBBCS is to glorify Christ and serve Him by providing services designed to aid and assist families seeking to homeschool. God has placed upon our hearts the need for a homeschool umbrella and a desire to encourage parents as they partake in this mighty ministry of home education. Our goal is to encourage and support Christian families in educating their children, and to help preserve their religious liberty to do so.
One church family, two ministries.
Calvary Chapel of Big Bear Christian School operates as a ministry of Calvary Chapel of Big Bear, alongside the church’s youth, children’s, men’s, and women’s ministries. We share the same building, the same leadership covering, and the same conviction: that the local church has a role to play in supporting families as they raise the next generation in the Lord.
Families enrolled in CCBBCS are not required to attend Calvary Chapel of Big Bear, but our school’s values and statement of faith flow directly from the church’s own. What exactly is a “private school satellite program?”
In California, one legal way to homeschool is to enroll your children in a private school satellite program, often called a PSP or “umbrella school.” Rather than filing as your own private school, your family enrolls under an existing private school — in our case, CCBBCS.
You remain the teacher and the one shaping your child’s education day to day. We handle the umbrella’s side of things: official enrollment, attendance records, and the structure that keeps your homeschool compliant and recognized.
For Christian families, this also means joining a school community built on shared faith and values, rather than navigating the legal side of homeschooling alone.
